July / August 2023 Dear Son’Spot Family, Praise the Lord! God is in the life changing business. It is our privilege to witness His works each day. In 1 Corinthians 3:7, the Bible says, “The one who plants and the one who waters really do not matter. It is God who matters, because He makes the plant grow, He gives the increase.” Many have received from the Lord through Bible teaching, worship, food outreach, and boardwalk outreach. Praise the Lord! We give God all the glory. This is our 43rd year of ministry, one soul at a time. We gather everyday (except Wednesday) at 10am for sharing the Word and prayer, then complete work projects, and at 5pm go on the boardwalk for outreach ministry. We gather again at 8pm for Bible, prayer, worship, and fellowship. (Tuesdays are Game Nights). Additionally, the food outreach ministry includes dinner on Thursdays at 5:30pm, and breakfast on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30am. Each week we also deliver food bags to area homes. We meet on Sunday mornings from 10am to noon. You can listen to some of the worship nights and the Sunday meetings at SonSpot.org . The Lord continues to meet people right at their specific point of need. One by one people come in and receive from the Lord during times of worship, Bible, fellowship, and outreach meals. During the past few weeks there have been testimonies of salvation, healing, deliverance, restoration, and encouragement. There have also been good news reports from the weekly ministry teams that come to help. It is our privilege to be God’s vessel and we give Him all the glory for these changed lives. Our desire at every occasion is to lift up the name of Jesus (John 12:32) and for God to move and minister as HE desires. Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord”. Good News Reports “I was blessed to be a part of two baptisms. I was also blessed to meet the sand sculpture artist/minister. We were able to talk with him and watch him put his gift into action. I was blessed to fellowship with the Son’Spot leaders who are truly part of our family. I enjoy going through the scriptures during Bible Study. Hopefully we will continue to review many practical scriptures so that the Holy Spirit will teach us ALL things and bring to remembrance ALL things that Jesus said to us. John 14:26. The Lord convicted me that I need to study His Word more so I will remember and apply it to life situations. You are a blessing to us and we enjoyed all our time with you. You are wonderful servants and faithful, and I thank you for all that you do. It is a privilege to serve with you.” “I was blessed these past ten days ministering to those who came in for food, to the young lady who we brought the bicycle to (seeing her face beam), the verses we learned, especially John 14:26. I’ll never forget being privileged to do the water baptism (oh, not fair that the wave pulled me under and the lady pushed my head to the bottom to catch her balance). Praise God for the blessing.” “While following the cross down the boardwalk, with people laughing and sneering at us, I felt myself shrink back thinking maybe people will not realize I am with them. I was more concerned about people than God and quickly repented. I was like Peter, but quickly heard the Lord say go and walk behind the cross which I did, focusing all my attention on God’s work, not the world’s rejection of Christ. I had failed in my mind, but not in God’s. He just pushed me on. This week I loved on all who came to Son’Spot. People remembered my name and loved me in return. It made me realize that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Love starts a conversation, friendships and bond that is essential to bring others to Christ. So I learned to walk in love now and always, and the Holy Spirit will orchestrate the rest.” “I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity and the means to serve Him in a way I never did before. I believe part of my spiritual gifting is service/helps. I enjoy helping other more seasoned Christians accomplish whatever tasks God has given them, and I got the opportunity to do that here as well.” “The week at Ocean City is still lingering in our minds and will forever be in our hearts. Coming to The Son’Spot for a week was one of the most memorable times we have had ministering the gospel. From cooking, to cleaning, to walking on the boardwalk carrying the cross, this time with you all will forever be cherished. The team would like to thank you for the God door that you opened for us and we look forward to ministering with you all again in the future. My boys say “Hello!” They miss you all very much. The Son’Spot gave our team an opportunity to be in a place where Jesus is the focus and teamwork makes the dream work! This was a powerful week of worship, praise, prayer, and teamwork. The youngest of the group were left with a greater desire to serve others. We are forever grateful for the relationships made and the knowledge that was gained through Bible Studies. Thank you so much for taking us in and allowing for the experience of a lifetime.” “The Lord called me to The Son’Spot this week to give my time with the intention of furthering His kingdom. There were some things that I was assigned to do that really took me out of my comfort zone. The most difficult task for me was passing out Gospel tracts. I was reminded by what the Word says in Philippians 4:13; ‘I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.” “I am grateful to have been able to come and serve, taking me out of my comfort zone. It’s very difficult to hand out tracts. So what I did the first day we were here on the boardwalk, I asked the Lord to send me someone to pray for. He delivered and that was uncomfortable too. But I did it. This trip here was all about forgetting about me and my problems to SERVE OTHERS!” “I spent 3 days of the most spiritual time I have had in some time, in fact since the last time I was here serving the Lord. It is such a special time and I feel the presence of the Lord in everyone. It is very nice to be a part of something so special. Everything I do here at Son’Spot moves me to a place where I know I have been sent to be. They are truly very special people and the Lord has definitely given them a gift. It moves me almost to tears to see all the work they do and how they care so much and have the faith we all feel inside. When I leave there, I feel more and more enlightened and gifted that God put me on this earth to serve Him!” “I never felt adequate, but this week was a reminder that His adequacy was all that really mattered and His grace is sufficient in all these things – that I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength. All that was borne out! ‘It’s not by might or power, but it’s by My Spirit’, says the Lord. All I had to do was conduit His love! I’ve loved watching the growth in this team. Everyone had been here before, and I loved seeing the maturing that has taken place in their lives. Each one is so precious! As always, it’s been a delight and privilege to work with you and have loved the infusion of the Word into the team’s life, and especially mine. Thanks for the opportunity!” “This year at Son’Spot was a lot of fun. Our team was the first of the season and I enjoyed being a part of the team that kicked it off. I loved being able to serve the international students and homeless people. They all were genuinly happy to see us. This week all of the kids and teens did a skit about Saul becoming Paul. Although I played a very minor part in the actual thing, I got to share the takeaways and how God can use anyone. I am like deathly afraid of public speaking and absolutely hate it. But God gave me courage to share anyways. Another time I was asked to share at Bible Study. They wanted me to talk for 10 minutes. I didn’t think I could and really didn’t want to speak. But God gave me the words to say and I was really proud of how I did. Through it all God taught me the importance of relying on Him, memorizing scripture, and doing hard and scary things because God is with me.” Jesus Revolution Movie and Jesus At The Beach Festival We will show the Jesus Revolution Movie at The Son’Spot on Thursday, July 27, at 7pm. We plan to follow the movie with baptisms the next day at 10am. Also Jesus At The Beach Music & Ministry Festival is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 31, August 1 & 2 at the Convention Center at 10am and on the North Division Street beach at 7pm. We will have another time of baptisms following the Wednesday morning meeting. There is no charge for any of these events. Thank You We invite you to visit our web site at SonSpot.org for history, pictures, audio recordings, donations, and more. There are a lot of expenses this summer and we greatly appreciate your financial and prayerful support of what God is doing here in Ocean City. We give Him all the glory!
